Triangle next to the fuel gauge…
What does this arrow actually mean?
Have you ever noticed this arrow?
In the cockpit of modern cars, there is sometimes a light whose meaning is not known to every driver. This includes a small triangular arrow next to the fuel pump symbol, which indicates the fuel level and warns of a low fuel supply.
In many cars, the arrow is located to the right or left of the fuel filler neck and indicates which side of the vehicle it is on. Sometimes there is also an explanatory “Fuel Door” in front of it.
Tank flap left or right?
The fuel filler flap is not always on the passenger side of all vehicles. In Japanese makes sold in this country – including Mazda – the fuel filler flap is on the driver’s side, for example.
Helpful for rental cars
For your own car, this is certainly superfluous information. However, anyone who frequently uses rental cars or constantly changing company cars will appreciate this information. After all, driving up to the wrong side of the fuel pump can certainly cause you problems.
