Omission of the AU sticker
Abolition of the AU sticker as of January 1, 2010
What stays the same, what changes – TÜFA-TEAM informs!
Compliance with the specified pollutant limits in car exhaust gases has been checked since 1985 in the so-called ASU (special exhaust gas test). In 1993, the ASU became the AU (exhaust emissions test). A lot has happened since then, the emissions test has been further developed and adapted to the state of the art. With the abolition of the emissions test sticker from January 1, 2010, things will change again. The exhaust emissions test will now become the “exhaust emissions test” as part of the general inspection.
You can have this test carried out by officially recognized monitoring organizations such as TÜV SÜD or at one of the approved exhaust emissions test workshops.
Only one sticker as of January 1, 2010
The most obvious feature of the new exhaust emissions testing regulations is the elimination of the AU sticker on the front license plate. From January 1, 2010, the regulations on exhaust emissions testing will be integrated into the main inspection (HU). For all inspections carried out from this date, there will only be the HU sticker on the rear license plate. At the same time, the TÜFA-TEAM test engineer will remove the MOT sticker from the front license plate. If scratches occur or adhesive residue remains, the TÜFA-TEAM test engineers offer a so-called repair sticker. This consists of the same retroreflective material as the license plate and covers the previous space of the AU sticker. Affixing a repair sticker is not compulsory, it is only for visual purposes. However, no other stickers may be affixed. A solution is also available for vehicles with plastic hard badges.
Only one reporting form as of January 1, 2010
For vehicles that come in for a general inspection and exhaust gas measurement after January 1, 2010, there will only be one report form from TÜFA-TEAM. However, the exhaust emissions test can also be carried out by recognized workshops. You will receive an AU certificate with an adhesive seal and embossing for this separately performed partial inspection. The result confirmed on this report is shown by the TÜFA-TEAM test engineer in the main inspection report. The partial exhaust emissions test must not be older than one month when the main inspection is due, so pay attention to the date here. There is no obligation to keep the workshop’s emissions test certificate – the result is noted in the general inspection report. However, TÜFA-TEAM advises you to keep the proof, as before, with the HU report until the next upcoming main inspection. The main inspection report issued from January 1, 2010 is sufficient documentation for the registration authorities and any traffic checks by the police.
