Main inspection
according to § 29 StVZO
At certain intervals, German vehicle owners are reminded that their vehicle is due for a new inspection when they look at the sticker on the license plate, the vehicle registration document or the report from the last main inspection. The basis for this recurring inspection is § 29 of the StVZO (main inspection). Cars, for example, normally have to undergo a general inspection every 2 years.
The purpose of these regular vehicle inspections is to ensure road safety. The vehicles are inspected for compliance with regulations and technical defects. We check the condition of your vehicle and thus ensure that neither you nor other road users are exposed to increasing danger. Recognizing defects and the obligation to rectify these defects often helps to prevent accidents. Regular technical inspections also have a positive effect on the life of the vehicle, as defects are detected at an early stage, which can possibly prevent consequential damage.
What is checked?
During the general inspection, we check a total of over 150 points on your vehicle. Here are the most important inspection points:
Brake system
Steering system
Visibility
Lighting equipment and other electrical equipment
Axles and suspension
Wheels/tires
Chassis, frame, body and other equipment
Environmental impact
