As a general rule, the air conditioning should be switched on regularly for at least ten minutes, even at moderate temperatures. This ensures adequate lubrication of the system; impurities on the evaporator are washed away by draining condensation water. If you want to be very careful and prevent damage, switch off the cooling system with the fan running just before you park your car. This prevents residual moisture on the evaporator and reduces the risk of odors.
